The Sun is finally shining!!

Hi Everyone,

What a beautiful day today..So tired of the miserable rainy weather we have been having.We leave tomorrow for China to get our daughter Sophie Q. The day we have been waiting for for over five years. I guess Todd and I will be bringing the rainy weather with us. As forecast looks like rain all week in Beijing and Hunan.
Our important documents and passports finally arrived at 3:00pm this afternoon. Not like getting things done on the deadline. We now can breath a sight of relief. Packing is done, house is in order...Todd, Stan and I even had time to enjoy some of this beautiful day outside.We took some pictures of us with Stan.Last pictures as a family of three.lol
Our flight leaves tomorrow at 2:45pm and it is a 13 hour flight.China is 12 hours a head of us. So we get into Beijing at 3:55pm which is am for us. We will be exhausted. Than Sunday we fly from Beijing to Hunan.That flight is just over two hours.We meet Sophie on the Monday, not sure what time and she is with us the remainder of the trip. We stay in Hunan until the 14th and fly back to beijing and stay there till the 19th. Imigration paperwork and medicals on Sophie are done in Beijing.. We do get to do some sight seeing. The Great wall, Forbidden City ,etc..A trip of a lifetime. Will keep everyone updated and next entry will be from China..Yay!!!!Rach xo

Less than week...

Hi Everyone,

It has been a while since I posted anything. But now the countdown is in single digits. I am happy to have one less thing to worry about as I finished working yesterday and have 5 days to get last minute stuff done and visit with some friends and family.Todd is done this Wednesday. Feels really weird and great.
We have everything from teething rings packed to baby toothpaste. diapers,wipes,clothes,formula,snack foods,etc,etc,etc. Babies need alot of stuff..lol.I am not sure if any of Todd and my stuff will fit as Sophie Q had taken up alot of luggage space. Sophie is not even home yet and also has taken over the house. How Stan loves the baby gates.This is the same Dog who is scarred of vacuums, garbage bags, now baby gates, but will run at a moving vehicle.lol. We do love him though and will miss him while we are gone to China..Love you Stan the Man!!
So in the last month we have had a work baby shower and family baby shower. Very emotional days and so wonderful. We are so lucky to have great people in our lives. We are forever grateful and so thankful.
Keep posted almost time to go bring Sophie Q home..YAY!!!!!

Been a busy Month!!!

Hi Everyone,

Been a while since we posted anything. What a wonderful month we have had. It has been busy getting everything ready for when Sophie Q gets home. Less than 5 weeks now till we leave for China. Travel date is booked. We leave May 6th and Gotcha Day is May 9th.The day after mother's day..Couldn't be more perfect. We recieved updated pictures on Thursday March 31st. She is sooo adorable. She has a pouty lip in the picture. I am pretty sure she is not a fan of getting her picture taken.. I may be in trouble because I do not put the camera down. She will get used to it. The update describes her as being extroverted outgoing and lovely. Sounds like she is a busy girl. She loves dolls and toys that make noise. Oh BOY!!!We are truley BLESSED!!!Will keep you all posted..

Buying Diapers!!!!

Hi Everyone,

It is has been a few days since we got our wonderful news..My stomach is back to normal..Pure Anxiety and nerves I am sure. Both sides of the family are very excited..On my side I am pretty sure everyone but the Queen of England knows about Sophie.Todd's side all the Newfie's and Frenchies are aware.
Now that we know about Sophie we can start the SHOPPING..The fun stuff. While Todd was at work yesterday I went shopping..The most exciting thing for me to do, wierdly enough..Was to buy Diapers for the first time. I had never been down this part of the grocery store, so this was all new..I did not realize how complicated it was..Which was the best kind?.On top of all that there was the size to worry about.We only know her wait since she was 4 months..She was around 13 pounds or so..In the end my diaper shopping was a success...
Todd and I should recieve our referral package today. We have only seen pictures on the computer so far. This will be exciting..The poor purolator man or women does not know what he or she is in for...Once it arrives we have doctor appointments and will meet with our adoption practitioner to look over paperwork. Than we return it back to children's bridge. Than wait for verification for travel..Travel is most likely will be end of April beginning of May. Cannot Wait!!!

Our Referral Arrived Yesterday!!

Hi Everyone,

As most of you already know, we recieved our referral yesterday.We are sooooo HAPPY. After almost a 5 year wait..It is over and so Worth it..We are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl.Her given birth name is Qin Qin and we are giving her the name Sophie and including her birth name. Sophie is a important name to me as it is my grandmothers middle name.Gran was a wonderful woman someone I adored and miss so much..Sophie was born on August 4th 2010 and has been residing at PingJiang Children's Welfare Institute in Hunan province of China since nine days old.She is a good eater, loves to kick her legs..This I found was a funny description..Perhaps the next Mia Hamm. She is heathy and happy baby..We cannot wait to go and get her..Travel will most likely be the end of April..So much to do till than.
Todd and I spent last night celebrating with a little bit of bubbly and of coarse chinese food..We are on cloud nine right now.. Thanks to everyone for all your love and support..xo

Our Referral is at our agency!!!

Hi Everyone,

Today is Monday last day of February.First time I have posted anything for a very long time...We did not expect referrals for another few weeks..Our referral has been at Children's bridge since late last Thursday..The suspense is killing me..I have gotten nothing done..There is soooooo much to do..Laundry is pilling up,Stanley's DNA is all over the house,etc,etc,etc..Plus Stan is also not happy he has not been out for a walk today..I do not want to leave the house in case we get a call and I miss it..My brain is on over drive and my stomach is killing me.Maybe my own labour pains..The phone rang this morning long distance call..My stomach turned to only answer it and it being someone wanting to give me another credit card..I could use it but I hung up immediatly and ran to the bathroom...
Todd is at work and called once..He is calm and collective, but I know deep down is also a bunch of emotions...I Hope we get the call today.....Come on Referral!!Will keep you all posted..
